1998: The year in numbers

Lotto Texas 1998: all 104 draws from Jan 3, 1998 to Dec 30, 1998 with the winning numbers, by month; click a date for the prize breakdown.

Most drawn numbers that year: 34, 50, 4, 3, 16 – least drawn: 37, 17, 27.

The sum of the winning numbers averaged 149.3 (chance expectation 165.0); the highest sum of the year was 221 on Mar 18, 1998, the lowest 61 on Oct 24, 1998.

54.3% of the drawn numbers were even (expected 50.0%). In 52 draws (50%) two consecutive numbers such as 12 and 13 came up together; chance expects that in 46% of draws.

On average 0.66 number from the previous draw was drawn again (expected 0.67). Never drawn that year: 51, 52, 53, 54.

Numbers from the range 1–10 came up most often (146 hits), those from 21–30 least often (112). Such deviations are part of chance: they even out over many years, and none of them helps with the next draw.
