Rules of the game

How is Lotto Texas played?

Lotto Texas is the number lottery of the State of Texas (Texas Lottery, since 1992), drawn every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:12 pm (Austin). 6 numbers are drawn from 54, with no bonus ball. A play costs $1; the jackpot starts at $5 million and rolls until someone matches all 6. Four prize tiers (6, 5, 4 and 3 matches); 3 matches pay a fixed $3, the other tiers are pari-mutuel. Formats: 6 from 50 (1992–2000), 6 from 54 (2000–2003), 5 from 44 plus bonus ball (2003–2006, not included here), 6 from 54 again since 26 April 2006. Data: official CSV export of the Texas Lottery (texaslottery.com).

How does the Bonus work?

The Bonus is drawn after the winning numbers from the remaining balls; it counts if it is among your own numbers.
