Rules of the game

How is EuroMillions played?

A line consists of 5 numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 Lucky Stars from 1 to 12. The draw takes place every Tuesday and Friday in Paris. You win from 2 correct numbers (tier 13: 2 numbers, no Lucky Star).

Which countries play?

Nine countries: France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Germany does not take part (it offers Eurojackpot).

How much does a line cost?

The price is set by each country; in France, a line costs €2.50 (My Million code included).

Since when have the current rules applied?

The 5/50 format has existed since the first draw on 13.02.2004. The Lucky Stars were drawn from 9, then from 11 from May 2011, and from 12 since 27.09.2016. The Tuesday draw has existed since May 2011. Our Lucky Star statistics therefore start on 27.09.2016.

Winning

What are the odds of winning?

The chance of winning tier 1 (5 numbers + 2 Lucky Stars) is 1 in 139,838,160, and the chance of winning one of the 13 tiers is about 1 in 13. All tiers with their exact probabilities are shown on the Prizes page.

How big is the jackpot?

The jackpot starts at €17 million and grows until tier 1 is won, up to a cap (€200 million since 2020, subsequently raised in stages). The FDJ data only gives the amount once it has been won.

Where do the numbers of winners come from?

From the results files of the Française des Jeux: the number of winners across Europe and the prize per tier in euros.

This site

Where do the numbers come from?

From the official history files of the FDJ (fdj.fr). The database contains 1988 draws from 13.02.2004 to 09.10.2026.

Do statistics help you win?

No. Each draw is independent of the previous ones and every combination is equally likely. Statistics only describe the past.
