1996: The year in numbers

Cash Five 1996: all 116 draws from Jan 2, 1996 to Dec 31, 1996 with the winning numbers, by month; click a date for the prize breakdown.

Most drawn numbers that year: 21, 26, 6, 8, 17 – least drawn: 28, 37, 13.

The sum of the winning numbers averaged 91.1 (chance expectation 90.0); the highest sum of the year was 140 on Jan 16, 1996, the lowest 56 on Dec 24, 1996.

48.3% of the drawn numbers were even (expected 48.6%). In 36 draws (50%) two consecutive numbers such as 12 and 13 came up together; chance expects that in 48% of draws.

On average 0.65 number from the previous draw was drawn again (expected 0.71). The longest gap of any number within the year belonged to 29, absent for 30 draws.

Numbers from the range 21–30 came up most often (111 hits), those from 31–35 least often (50). Such deviations are part of chance: they even out over many years, and none of them helps with the next draw.
